Public Presentations
4-H Public Presentations is a program in which youth learn to create a presentation and develop the skills needed to present it before an audience. They learn about the research process and the steps needed to organize information into an interesting and creative presentation.
Youth learn about the varied purposes of presentations and how to tailor their presentations appropriately to fit their intentions. As youth progress and grow each year, they are challenged to try one of the more difficult types of presentations, to use more advanced technology in their presentations where appropriate, and to venture into unfamiliar topics or presentation styles.

🍀presentation types🍀
Non-Food Demonstration: the presenter shows and explains how to do or make something (how to juggle, do basic dance steps, build a kite, care for a pet, etc.). Models or illustrations are used as needed to explain information; show steps in the process being demonstrated; show a larger scale replica of something that is too small for the audience to see; or reveal a finished product.
Food Demonstration: a food demonstration consists of the presenter acting out the physical steps of baking or cooking a food item. New for 2023-24, food demos will only be allowed at the specified Food Festival dates!! A youth could give an illustrated talk of how to cook or bake an item at a regular public presentation date, but may not do a demonstration.
Illustrated Talk: the presenter uses visual aids to tell about the topic. The effective use of charts, pictures, posters, slides, overheads, graphs, examples, models, etc. play a major role in communicating the presenter's message. Team illustrated talks are not permitted.
College or Job Interview: teens have the option to conduct a 'mock' college or job interview for their public presentation requirement. Please see the interview resources for more information.
Horse Communications: the presenter uses visual aids to tell about a horse related topic. The effective use of charts, pictures, posters, slides, overheads, graphs, examples, models, etc. play a major role in communicating the presenter's message. Team Horse Communications ARE permitted.
