What is the 4-H Flourishing Farmers Program?
Flourishing Farmers provides youth with individual challenges the chance to learn life skills and Ag-based experiences alongside their 4-H peers in a safe, supportive setting. 4-H has partnered with five local farms to provide hands-on learning experiences. Explore the map to find a participating farm near you, and download their farm information sheet to learn more about each farm participating in our program!

Program requirements:Youth in the Flourishing Farmers program must:
- Be Dutchess County residents between the ages of 5-19 - Will sign up for one slot with one of our participating farms per year. - Will be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the program - Are able to commit to attending at least 70% of the sessions, or forfeit their slot - Will work with their caretakers to develop some sort of journal/poster board/photo collection in order to document their experiences throughout the program. See more details on this in links below. - Will plan on attending the Dutchess county fair on Thursday the 22nd to participate in ThinkDIFFERENTLY day - Will treat the farms they visit, the animals they meet, and the tools they are given with respect. |

How to participate
Participate in the 4-H Flourishing Farmer's program by following the steps below:
1. A parent or guardian will reach out the the Flourishing Farmers program coordinator, Savanna Burke.
2. Parents/guardians will meet with Savanna to share information about the strengths, interests, and needs of their youth. Together, they will choose a placement that works best for that youth's particular situation, location, and availability.
3. Parents/Guardians will enroll their child in the 4-H program, and begin attending their farm's sessions of the Flourishing Farmers program.
4. Parents/Guardians will check the email associated with your 4-H account for updates, reminders, and additional opportunities for activities outside of the scheduled farm days!
